In Memory of Courageous Boyhood - D Day Iwo Jima

Today is the anniversary of D Day on Iwo Jima - Feb 19, 1945. It was the place where young men set aside personal safety to storm the beach against a furious storm of enemy fire. My father arrived there on D plus 8, flew P-51 Mustangs on bombing raids against mainland Japan, and was finally shot down in enemy waters on May 29,1945.
